Today I want to help you understand the difference between Tapping and EFT.
You may have noticed that tapping is becoming more visible in the media lately. Even in the recent series The Best Sisters on Prime Video, where one of the characters is seen tapping on her face to calm her nerves. This simple-looking gesture has sparked a lot of curiosity, and rightly so. But it also raises an important question: what exactly is the difference between "tapping" and EFT?
While the terms are often used interchangeably, they are not quite the same.
As Falguni Matter explains beautifully in her article “Understanding the Difference Between Tapping and EFT: Self-Care vs a Professional Approach”, tapping can be a helpful self-care tool, a way to soothe the nervous system or shift a difficult emotion in the moment. It’s something we can all learn to do in daily life to bring ourselves back to balance.
However, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), when practiced professionally, goes much deeper. It’s a structured therapeutic method based on clinical principles, and used with care and precision to address unresolved emotional patterns, past traumas, limiting beliefs, anxiety, and more.
As an Accredited Certified EFT Practitioner, I tailor each session to your specific emotional landscape, supporting deep healing and long-lasting change.
It’s also worth noting that you may come across life coaches or influencers who use tapping alongside affirmations, calling it “EFT.” While affirmations can be a supportive tool, this simplified version does not reflect the full depth of EFT as developed by Gary Craig and recognized by EFT International. True EFT uses specific techniques, all designed to gently bring lasting resolution to emotional issues.
Both tapping and EFT have their place, and it’s beautiful to see more people becoming curious about energy work and emotional health. My intention is simply to bring more clarity, so you can make informed choices that truly support your well-being.
If you feel called to explore EFT in a safe and guided way, I’m here.
